WestJet expands services across Western Canada with Summer 2025 schedule
With a capacity increase in Edmonton, new U.S. connections from Vancouver, and expanded services in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, the airline will deliver its largest-ever summer schedule.
WestJet announced its summer schedule on Nov. 18, adding significant enhancements to its network across Western Canada.
Edmonton will be a focal point for WestJet's expansion, with the airline increasing its capacity in the city by 23 per cent. This represents WestJet’s largest schedule ever for Edmonton. New non-stop routes to Atlanta, Nashville, and San Francisco will be added, along with increased frequencies to existing destinations.
“Today's reveal is just one of the many chapters in WestJet's Edmonton growth story and showcases our investment as the city's number one air carrier and growth engine. In the last three years, we have almost doubled our presence in the community demonstrating an unwavering commitment to further growing Edmonton on connectivity throughout North America,” said Alexis von Hoensbroech WestJet Group CEO with the announcement. “Through our record summer schedule, we are providing more affordable fares, product offerings and destinations to the Edmonton region, giving guests choice and flexibility to make the most out of their summer business and leisure travel plans.”
Vancouver sees new U.S. connections
WestJet's transborder network will be strengthened with new routes from Vancouver to Boston and Tampa.
“We are thrilled to expand Vancouver's critical air access this summer with new non-stop service to Boston and Tampa, creating more opportunities for business and leisure travel,” John Weatherill, WestJet’s executive vice-president and chief commercial officer. “As part of our double-digit capacity increase at YVR, guests travelling from Vancouver this summer will also enjoy increased flight options to many popular domestic and U.S. destinations, including Calgary, Edmonton, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Kelowna, Winnipeg and Toronto.”
Calgary links to Nova Scotia, Saskatchewan gets increased frequencies
A non-stop seasonal service between Calgary and Sydney, Nova Scotia, will cater to those traveling between Western Canada and the Maritimes.
Saskatchewan will see enhancements with increased frequencies on routes connecting Saskatoon and Calgary and Regina and Calgary.
"WestJet's massive investment in building the Regina Airport's flight capacity this year has had a very positive impact on the economy in southern Saskatchewan," said James Bogusz, president and CEO of the Regina Airport Authority. "The unprecedented access they are providing to major Canadian markets, in addition to daily non-stop service to Minneapolis, and a full schedule of winter getaways is absolutely fantastic for our entire region."
Year-round service between Winnipeg and Orlando
The Winnipeg-Orlando route, currently seasonal, will become a year-round service due to robust demand. This change will offer consistent travel opportunities for leisure travelers from Manitoba heading to Florida’s attractions.
"Strong air connectivity unlocks a world of opportunities for all those who live and work in Manitoba," said Nick Hays, president and CEO of Winnipeg Airports Authority. "We're thrilled to see our transborder destinations go from strength to strength with the return of the Nashville route this summer, and year-round service to Orlando. This partnership continues to drive economic growth in our region and provide even more choice to the community."
